I'm packing. I hate it. Moving is the worst. I already dismantled my stereo and left my ipod speakers at my parents house so I have no tunes. Thank god for youtube and hulu - here's a scene from TWW that I love...

Minimal-izing...
I'm back in NYC for the next week packing up. Originally I was going to pack up, hire movers and have them deal with going up and down 4 flights of stairs all day, but then I got a price quote and realized that I have no furniture I need to move so I should probably just do it myself. My dad let me borrow his suv, but it's a small one and really can't hold that much which really kind of defeats the purpose of having one. So I'm left to decide what makes the cut and what doesn't. I have an old stereo cabinet thing that my parents have had for longer than I've been alive and has successfully made it through college and to two different nyc apartments, and will most definitely be making the cut to get to Chicago. I also have an end table that is about the same age and will be making the cut. So as of right now, all the furniture I have are those two things and a coffee table and end table that Mark Twain is giving me out of the goodness of her heart and because her mom will kill her if she doesn't get rid of them.
For those of you who have seen my apartments you know that I'm a pack rat. I get things and then keep them and keep them forever and ever. Little things. Knick-knacks. Dumb sh*t that I forget about and only see when it's time to move again. So those things will not be making the cut. In fact, I'm going to get rid of anything I haven't seen or used since I moved into my current apartment. It's going to be hard. Very very hard. But I'm going to do it because it's time to minimize. It's funny how much stuff I have because when it comes down to it, I'm perfectly happy living as a minimalist (as long as I can have my dvds). Anyway, it's going to take me a few days to get rid of things. My old roommate Socrates told me to take a picture of the things I'm throwing away that way I'll still have something to remember them by, just without the clutter of actually having them. This is a pretty good idea. I think for the things I can't justify saving I'll do this and maybe even blog about them so I can have something to refer to in the future and you can understand exactly how ridiculous I really am.
Anyways, that's all for now. Go big or go home. If you need a dvd case or a large wardrobe from ikea, let me know...

There's Something About Michigan...
I love this state. I sincerely believe that it;s the greatest state in the country. If I could get a job here I would probably not be moving to NYC. I mean if I could get a job doing film....
Continued below on August 8th...
That part I wrote a couple days before I left michigan but never got to finish the blog because immediately after i wrote that i went on my last michigan summer weekend bender. it ended up with me and a bunch of other people wasted at 5 in the morning and naked in the pool 3 nights in a row. good times. actually i was supposed to leave sunday but was too hungover/still drunk to drive so i ended up not leaving until monday.
Anyways, I thought I'd update you all on how the move is going. I got here Monday night. Unloaded my car on tuesday and then my storage unit yesterday and I'm still unpacking. I went to Ikea to pick up some stuff (my first time in the store and i must say it blew me away. I could have spent a week in there). I spent the last year with no more than 2 duffel bags worth of clothes and a few worldly possessions (basketball shoes, basketball, light saber, cd's, record collection, stero, hats and a puzzle). When I got back here and thought about my storage unit that was filled to the brim, I couldn't imagine what was in there as I had lived contently for a year with about 10 percent of my belongings.
I love my stuff and for those of you that have been into one of my apartments or know me very well or have lived with me, you know I'm a pack rat. I have t-shirts and nick-knacks from when I was 9. Literally. I can't find it in myself to throw anything away. Ever. I am convinced that if someone stole all the crap I just unloaded from my storage unit, I wouldn't be able to know exactly what went missing, just that something had. Which makes me wonder why I have all this crap. I am going to upload some before and after pictures of my room and it will become evident that I have way too many things, especially for living in NYC. I'm glad I'm realizing this now at 25 though and not 30 because I can't imagine the things I will accumulate over the next 5 years.
Anyways, I'll blog again as soon as I finally get everything put away. I hate moving so much it makes me want to explode my head against a rock. Go big or go home but don't bring anything home with you.

Almost Outta Here...
So I'm moving back to NYC this week. Actually this weekend. I'm pretty excited to finally get back to doing things. I've been sitting on my ass for a while essentially doing nothing productive, which is awesome but for some reason not as much fun as it should be. I'm hoping being a PA and finding work in nyc is just as easy as being one in LA, which wasn't hard at all. I am going to miss michigan again. As always. And I'm dreading the hot/humid/unbearableness that is august in the city. It's pretty much hell on earth.
Batman was sweet if you didn't see it (ignore this guy who is the only person who didn't think it was the best movie ever.) Everyone else in the world loved it. So much so that it pretty much broke every box office record. It made 158 million in the opening weekend, had the highest midnight opening ever (18 mill) the highest opening day, the highest sunday, the highest monday and tuesday and was the fastest ever to reach 200 million (5 days). It just show that if you take your time and do things well, people will reward you for it. It's one of the reasons I'm so excited for Iron Man II which won't be out for another three years even though the studio already set a release date for 2 years from now. Jon Favreau said he wouldn't rush it and said it would take 3 years to make a movie that was better than the first which is awesome.
In other news, I hate packing. I hate moving. I hate the whole process of it. I hate all the shit you have to do to get ready to move, I hate apartment hunting and I hate lifting shit up 3 flights of stairs because there's no elevators ever when I have to move. I am glad to be moving to a place where drinking is expensive. I have had entirely too much fun this spring/summer and a lot of it had to do with alcohol. It'll be nice to not be around a college atmosphere for a while. Don't get me wrong, I love everything about it. I love hanging out drinking without any cares but I can't hang with the kids anymore and my liver just slapped me.
I just realized this might be the worst blog I've ever written. I hadn't done it in a bit though and thought I should put something down. I have had a bunch of things to say but since I've been driving all over the place I have never had my computer with me when the thought hits and I don't want to blog on my iPhone becuase that would just be a little too much. Anyways, go big.

Sun and Beer...
Clearly I haven't blogged in a while. I have actually been on a bender. Or rather, the bender to end all benders. Me and a couple friends made some new friends just as the weather was starting to get nicer and the next thing we knew we were drinking every day. Waking up, taking care of business as fast as we could only so we could start drinking at the earliest possible time and not sleeping until we passed out at 3. It was nice. It reminded me of the last year(s) of undergrad. Usually I feel too old to drink more than one night in a row but for some reason I just trucked on through.

Brown Guy said it best, "Jesus Christ, Marty. I don't care what you say, that IS NOT the Fountain of Youth. (Get your old a$$ down from there!)"
Care free fun is something that everyone should get to relive before they get too old to do it. Not like I had any real hardships or anything that being carefree was an escape from but, an relief from monotony is always a good thing. My life is about to take yet another move this summer when I get back to NYC and it got me thinking that I am really excited to be settled for a bit. I have been moving around for so long that I forgot what it was to be living in one place with a single purpose. Though obviously my life is still in the air, no job, no apartment, no roommates, no idea about anything really, it will still be nice to be living in a place I can call home. At least for a while. Not sure how long I will be in NYC but definitely as long as it takes to establish myself as a person in the film industry. Not talking Oscars, just enough credits where I can get a job that is fun and doesn't include the word "assistant."
In other news, nothing is new in my life. I got some new shorts but thats about it. I have been deliberating if I should lose a little more weight for the past few weeks. On one hand I am at 165 and I really like the weight that I'm at. But on the other I have been working out for 4 months now and my abs are a lot tighter than my rice tummy would suggest. The problem with losing more weight is that I think I look too skinny. Like I did in high school. Granted I am 40 pounds heavier than when I graduated but still, it's such a fine line between being just right and being too skinny. I decided that I am going to get down to 158 and that should be good. It should take me about 2 weeks to get there but I think that's going to be my ideal compromised weight. Not too skinny, but also no pinching an inch on my stomach.
Other than that I'm out. Stay up. I'll try and get back on a roll but we'll see how that goes. As always, go big...
